JOE McCOURRY Elected Mayor
It was a long and satisfying day at the polls on Saturday. The day started out cloudy and overcast as if it might rain. The temp continued to go up despite the clouds. By two o'clock, the sun began to burn its way into being a really hot day. You can tell by the picture above that I forgot the sun tan lotion. My wife and her friends were covering the polling place at Peters Colony. Mean while, my kids and friends were screaming for votes on Main Street out in front of the County Government Center. And hour after hour, voters steadily flowed into each polling place to cast a ballot. When the sun went down and the polls closed at 7pm, the effort proved to be a success. The result was a win, 788 to 468. This win was made possible by a lot of supporters though out this city. To each and every one of you: THANK YOU! Now that the election is over, the count certified, and the new members sworn in, the work can begin. The items that I stressed during my campaign will be focused on and worked on. The ideas that many of you shared with me over the past 6 months will be followed up on too. In the future, I hope that everyone will continue to send in ideas that will help promote and grow our community. I will listen.
